Furyk beats Immelman in Wachovia Championship play-off Monday, 8th May 2006
Jim Furyk has won the Wachovia Championship in the United States after beating South Africa's Trevor Immelman in a play-off last night.
The pair both finished on 12 under par after 72 holes, but the American clinched victory with a four-foot putt after Immelman bogeyed the first extra hole.
Furyk was beaten by Vijay Singh on the fourth hole of a play-off at the same event last year.
Meanwhile, Francesco Molinari has become the first home winner of the Italian open in 26 years.
The local favourite carded a seven-under-par closing-round 65 yesterday to finish up on 23 under par, four shots clear of Denmark's Anders Hansen and Sweden's Jarno Sandelin.
