Kelly's Hostel
Located just a short walk from Cork's busy city centre, Kelly's Hostel is probably the most colourful accommodation of any sort in the entire country. Yellow, blue, and green are the primary colours used, and the place positively radiates cheer and relaxation. The walls are literally covered in Celtic artwork, Irish family crests are painted on the walls with intricate detail, and the rooms are themed after some of the best known Irish poets, with their words decorating the walls. (For instance the luxurious double room at the top of the house is decorated with the words of Séamus Heaney.)
In all, the hostel has 20 beds. All of the rooms except for the Heaney room are non-smoking, as are the common areas of the hostel. There is an area reserved for smokers in the garden too.
There are four rooms/ dorms in the hostel - the aforementioned Séamus Heaney Room, which is a double room with ensuite bathroom, at €40.00 per night (i.e. €20.00 per person); the Thomas Kinsella room, which is a three bedded dormitory with ensuite bathroom at €15.00 per bed per night; the Patrick Kavanagh room, with seven beds at €12.00 per night, and the W.B. Yeats room, with eight beds also at €12.00.
